Getting java timeout error when friends to connect to my minecraft server.

I recently started a Minecraft server (small for about 2-3 players). I set up all of the port forwarding correctly in the router and I have the correct info in my server.properties file. I can connect to it fine locally but nobody can connect with my public IP. It is giving an error looking something like this when they try to connect:

javaConnectExeption: Java timeout: no further information

I even tried allowing the minecraft server port (25565) through my firewall (I had to make two for ATP and UDP or whatever they are called). I tested the port online and it said it was open on my public IP. Can anyone please offer a fix to this? It is starting to get frustrating...

Although I do think this isn't the right forum to ask such question, I'm gonna try to help you. I've got quite a lot of experience with Minecraft servers. That error means there is no connection to your server, not at all. What do you mean with "I have the correct info in my server.properties file"? If you're using the standard port (25565), that shouldn't be modified. You can edit the other settings ofc, but not the port settings. Try to check your IP again (http://www.ipchicken.com), and be sure you port forwarded correctly. Did you fill in the LAN-subnet? And the DMZ adress? Just check those things, and it should be fine :)
