I just wanted to discuss and see what you guys think about the consoles dilemma!
As we know PC gaming is far superior to console gaming but it comes at a cost.
I understand that systems can be built on the cheap but it requires the time to scrape around the internet, find the cheap hardware and then build the system before you can even start to download and play games.
With the whole console exclusives thing, it's going to get harder and harder for people to decide which platform they want to game on. Do they want Call of Duty DLC a month early? If yes PS4 is for them. Do they want to play game like Halo? If yes then Xbox is for them.

Will all this exclusivity actually keep working? Will people still be stupid enough to fall for the crappy advertisements DLC exclusives so that Sony and Microsoft can earn a bit more cash?

I think PC gaming is the way forward and with hardware prices forever dropping it is really easy to get into PC gaming on a budget.

But where are the PC exclusives? We never get any! Well we do but we just get stuck with other awful ports (Warner Bros?)

Let me know what you guys think and give me your perspective on things because to me all this exclusive crap is just confusing for lots of people and making console gaming a lot harder to get into, which is overall effecting how fun gaming is supposed to be!

Solution
Consoles will die when PC's gain the ability to be bought at a store for $200-$300, then readily run all games at acceptable graphical standards in a plug and play setup, and require no maintenance.

As far as PC exclusives its pretty much the MMO market. As far as the console market dying I highly doubt that will ever happen as ppl are just too lazy for pc gaming especially if they have to build a system, download the newest drivers and keep the system up-to-date. I've tried many a times to get my friends to get into it and they have the money to do it but they still have no interest, I even offered to build the systems and keep them updated.

PC fanboys needs to calm down, consoles have been around since the 70s, and ever since NES in the mid 80s have been doing very well. I think PC and console will always be around, one is a simpler and cheaper solutions, which is a good option for a lot of people.

In the short term: No.
In the medium term both PC and console will almost entirely dissapear for consumers. You'll, instead, invest in a gaming/editing/writing/thingy interface and add-ons to that thing which, until recently, people used to phone.
In the long term . . . something magic something bioelectric interface something full-integration something.

They actually might, because it's becoming less and less viable to keep up with the latest graphics technologies.

That and the fact they're aging faster and faster. And the fact both Sony and Microsoft basically sold you the exact same product using nearly identical hardware. They're still releasing games for the last generation of the consoles as well.

They wont die, they will just become more like PCs.

Giving them the name "console" to hide the fact they use same architecture as a PC.

Just with the capability to play with a controller, which you can still do on a PC.

As long as it has Xbox, Sony, or Nintendo on it, it will always be a console. Not a gaming PC, because the word PC turns parents and teenagers away because when they think of PCs they think about viruses, hackers, expensive and etc.
