Will this allow more storage on Dell 2850?

I got an old Dell Poweredge 2850 very very cheap but it uses SCSI. I a wondering 2 things.

I know the system is normally limited to 2TB. If I install an internal PCI SATA raid card would the limit of 2TB still be there or would it be based then on the RAID cards limit.

Secondly I plan to de-solder the SCSI connectors from the backplane (I know its risky but backplanes are cheap and I got the server for less than a used backplane.) If I do this would the power pins still function from the SCSI system with out a drive detected. If that works I plan to solder a home made adaptor to the SATA power standard to it.

No if you are running a 64 Bit OS you shouldn't have an issue again it just depends on RAID card. Some RAID cards (usually older ones) only support up to 2TB max size drive BUT you can have a virtual drive of any size for the most part.
1) depends on the RAID card and 2) As long as you have a 64 bit OS of Vista or higher you can use 2TB is the RAID card allows it.

on the second part that won't work. 1) the SCSI ports and the SATA ports are totally way off and then trying to get the power it would be a pain. it's next to impossible. Best thing to do if possible is just remove the backplane all togther, and then run SATA Cables to the drives and then power cables. it won't be all hot swap anymore but it will work. I have a Supermicro server sitting in my office that is the same way. i just remove the backplane and tossed in drives and have it connected directly.

It will be running 64 bit Windows Server 2012 R2. Also I am talking more than 2TB as in 1-2TB per drive with 6 drives.

Also how should I power the drives then?

unfortunatly it looks like everything is connected though Pins for power and not cables in that model so idk if you can do what you need it to since there is no way you can remove those connectors off the backplane and keep everything intact and reuse anything. Had it been connected VIA 4 pin molexs, like the super micro i have is, i just use model to sata adapters but doesn't look like you can do that.
