I have two desktop pc in my home office, both with ssd's and one with a 2TB hard drive. I need to share to hdd with both computers and I am looking for the optimal way of doing so. Is it possible to use dual ethernet on both computers and have a direct connection without clogging up the router? If I use a cat7, will I see speeds comparable to the 6 Gb/s data cable? It is a 7200 rpm hdd, so will I even notice? I would like to take advantage of the usb 3.1 on one of my mother boards, but I do not see a way that it is possible.

I have a NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 router with a 1Ghz dual core processor.

Solution
HDD today cannot do more than 1.5 gbit/s no matter what you do.

Yes, you can use dual NIC to offload traffic.

USB, I dunno, Google see if you find anything.

Will I be able to use a NIC with one ethernet port and the port on my motherboard or do I need to buy a NIC with two ports?
