PC and Monitor specs:

OS: Windows 10
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-F2A55M (1 x VGA, 1 x HDMI, 1 x DVI-D)
CPU: AMD Anthlon X4 750K
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 270 (1 x HDMI , 1 x DVI-I , 1 x DVI-D, 1 x Display Port)

Monitors: 2 x E2270Sw (VGA ports)

I recently bought a second monitor but cannot get Windows 10 to detect it. I bought a DVI Male - VGA converter and also a VGA - HDMI lead but none of which work. I have tried all ways of connecting the monitor, even trying to connect to the motherboard but Windows just doesn't detect it.

I have updated my GPU drivers but this has not worked.

Does anybody know how to fix it?

Thanks.

If your going to go that route and spend a lot of money on an adapter you might want to think about a newer model monitor that probably would have better specs and no need for an adapter.

If you are using the GPU, your on board ports should be disabled which is why they wouldn't work.

After you plugged in the 2nd monitor into your GPU, made sure its power is connected, and hit the power button. Check to see if there is power.

Turn on the PC and right click the windows desktop and choose 'display settings'. Can you see 2 monitors in the display settings?

Nope, I see "1". If I click "Detect" it says "Didn't detect another display."

Moved the working monitor to all the other ports, it cannot be detected.

Moved the second monitor to the port that the primary monitor uses, that works fine. So the second monitor definitely works.

Ok so the monitor is good. Windows 10 should detect the 2nd monitor automatically assuming support for multiple displays is not disabled in your BIOS, the correct version drivers are installed, the GPU ports are working and not disabled in your GPU software. Its not likely that both adapters you purchased are defective.

I wasn't able to locate the model number of your monitor on http://www.aoc.com/ so you could get the latest drivers from them, but here is a link to the manufacturers technical support: http://us.aoc.com/aoc-technical-support/?page=contact-technical-support

If this is a common issue they are having with that monitor, they would know about it and how to fix it.
