I currently have two 8gb sticks, totaling in 16GB of RAM. Can I add another 8?

This is probably the dumbest question I've asked on this forum and I've asked some dumb ones. I currently have an Asus z97 a motherboard with 16GB of HyperX fury ram (2x8). Eventually I would like to work my way up to 32GB, so I'm wondering if I can add one more 8GB ram stick to my build with no issues? And then another 8GB later totaling 32GB?

This is the ram I'm using:

Having three sticks of ram won't hinder any performance right?

Nope, as there are no guarantees when mixing packages of DRAM, if it was as easy to mix as many want you to believe the makers would simply sell single sticks and make more money - they test sticks to pair up ones that will play before packaging. You can pull twopo sticks right off an assembly line and they might or might not play. They might have to test through 10 sticks to put together a 4 stick package.

Okay it should work but there is a possibility that it may not just because of the mixed sticks. You'd have to try to be sure.

RAM is one of those things that is either hit or miss and depends on the exact sticks and mobo. There is also no real good way to tell if mismatched sticks will work without testing.

Okay but the sticks are identical. Same manufacturer, and they will all be 8GB DDR3 sticks at 1866. Is there a way I can check to see if I can add the ram without issue?
