I have an HP chromebook running Ubuntu via Crouton, because it only has 16gb (11ish usable) I am looking to increase my storage capacity for music, games, documents, etc I also will probably have a couple of programs installed on it as well. Would it work ok? I would be doing regular backups onto an external 3tb drive, Would it be better to use a 128gb usb 3.0 flashdrive, or to use a 128gb SD card? I am thinking that the usb drive will be faster.

If you have a SD card slot i would go SD for sure that way you can just leave it in. Its not going to be any faster or slower than your Flash drive i dont believe. Not noticeably anyways. Plus you wont be using up your USB port and having something hanging out the side of your chromebook.

I'm looking at using this USB drive so it won't really stick out any more then the adapter for the wireless mouse.
