Hi guys, I have an i7 intel cpu. Usually the idle temp stays around 35c. A few days ago, I cleaned the inside of my tower with compressed air because some dust had built up. This is the only thing I can think of that has changed since then.
I noticed my cpu temp jump randomly up to around 50-55c for no apparent reason tonight. It hovered around there for several minutes, even though the cpu wasn't being used heavily. It happened just a moment ago, and then maybe 40 mins before that. I only have firefox open at the minute and my system is not under heavy load.
I can understand when someone has it consistently stay at a higher temp, but what would make it randomly jump about 15 degrees when nothing had changed, in the span of several minutes? That's such a huge amount. It was also going all over the place too, jumping from 45 to 55c in a second.. although this was just looking at the tray icon which is set to core temperature and also current. It's also a quad core, so I think the tray icon is showing the average of all 4 cores?
Any ideas?
Oh, speedfan also says my cpu fan is 2683 RPM and my system fan is 1043 RPM, if that helps.
Thanks for any suggestions.
