Looking to replace the PS in my DAW, not because the current unit is malfunctioning, but because it's getting old. I have not used the DAW a lot, but am starting to run her more hours, and I'm thinking a fresh PS might be a good idea.

Basically narrowed it down to these 2 units, but open to suggestion:

EVGA SuperNOVA 550 G2 80 Plus Gold 220-G2-0550-Y1
http://

Seasonic SS-520FL2 520W Fanless 80 PLUS Platinum ATX12V/EPS12V
http://

What I'm running; note the Antec Solo II is top mounted PS with vent in top.

ASUS P5KPL-CM Micro ATX
LGA 775 socket

Intel Pentium (R) Dual
E2180 @ 2.00 Ghz 2.02 Ghz, 4 GB RAM (3.5 avail - x86 limitation)

XP Home version 2002 SP3

Antec Solo II case

PS: Allied ATX500W
Model: AL-B500E

EVGA Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT

160 GB Western Digital Hard Drive

1.0TB Western digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS

M-audio Keystation Pro 88 powered from USB
(optional to run external 9V 200mA PS, just
for idea of power consumption)

EMU 1616m audio recording interface (externally powered)

Seems the EVGA would likely run fanless most/all the time.
I have the 750W version in my i7 rig, and so far so good
Not sure I need to spend double the money for the Seasonic, but what other caveats may I be missing? ie: cable lenths - connectors, etc...

Solution
Both are very good power supplies.
Always expect to pay a high premium on fan-less power supplies like the SeaSonic.
If you need complete silent operation for recording then SeaSonic it is.
If low fan noise is not a concern go for the EVGA model.
Both are great choices and either would work fine.
