So I just got the psu and its works hard with my fx 8320 and r9 290.
Just on max load . It is louder then my TV on half volume. It's new , I researched that replacing the fan would help. But what about the plastic inside covering the fan ? Will it help if I remove it?

Solution
They are loud.
Best option is to return it .
Or replace the fan with a quiet model with the same CFM rating.

Removing the plastic air deflector will cause the unit to overheat.

Hey there. Well, the fact that AMD downs power like you wouldnt believe is your problem, or at least part of it. A 290 eats a lot of watts at load as does the 8320; and thats assuming theres no overclock. I myself just returned a PSU I had for 24 hours as it was too loud as well. I know the pain. Just make sure its rated 80+, preferably gold. Even then, they can be loud. Try and go for one with Eco Mode like my 4 hour old Evga G2 here. She's very quiet and a tier 1 PSU.
