Good day, im currently using i3 3220, im thinking over about upgrading it to i5 4690... no k cause im not going to overclock it.... if i do the upgrade will it gives me a significant effect like more fps? while playing games like bf4 gta and such games? by the way im using gtx 960 4gb.... Thanks everyone in advance, have a nice day....

For a little yet effective upgrade i would try to find an i7 2600K (if the board supports it) and OC it , there is no need to throw the board. Also an ivy bridge i5 would also be a nice upgrade for less money.

You can see a comparison of those two CPUs here: http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-4690-vs-Intel-Core-i3-3220

As you can see from this, the i5 has a better single core score and a superior multi core. As a result I would expect you to see a slight improvement in games that use single core and a bigger improvement in games that use multi-core. However, I have never tested these CPUs so am relying on this information to make an assessment.

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable could confirm.

edit: If you are changing motherboard you will need another product key to register the OS and you will need a full reinstall.

Nice... thanks for the reply... if i can find a good deal for an i5 ill get that.. maybe i3 cannot handle the current games right now, thats why i cannot maximize my vid card... as you say, ill upgrade from i3 to i5 if given a chance.. maybe a month or 2 from now.... thanks again buddy... its a big help to read your post... :)
