Quantum Break Insane System Requirements?

I've been reading the recent articles online about Quantum Break, I've been following the game for years. I'm super excited to know that Quantum Break is coming to PC and very soon however the system requirements are just insane.

I can't remember what the minimum system requirements are but I do the recommended system requirements. It's something like: Windows 10, DX 12, 55GB HDD Space, 16GB of RAM, GTX 980 Ti, and i7-4790.

Those are the most demanding requirements of all time and I was wondering if anyone knew if the recommended requirements are for 1080p resolution or if it's for higher resolutions? I actually have pretty much the exact same rig as the recommended requirements but it's meant for 1440p gaming not 1080p. It just doesn't seem possible that the recommended could be for 1080p.

Solution
Ultra just about has to be for 1440p because to my experience there are few AAA games that can be played at 4k with a single card and maintain 60fps and even fewer that are optimized for 4k. I can't say for certain, since there's little information on this so far, but my money would be on the Ultra being 1440p with basically "everything" on ultra or close to it, recommended being high-ultra with maybe a few things off and minimum being 1080p.
Minimum (1080p):
OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
CPU: Intel Core i5-4460, 2.70GHz or AMD FX-6300
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 or AMD Radeon R7 260x
RAM: 8 GB
VRAM: 2 GB
HDD: 55 GB available space
DX: DirectX 12

Recommended (1440p):
OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790, 4GHz or AMD equivalent
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 980 Ti or AMD Radeon R9 Fury X
RAM: 16 GB
VRAM: 6 GB
HDD: 55 GB available space
DX: DirectX 12

I just found this article online and it looks as if the recommended requirements have been updated. The recommended is now slightly less which is nice to know :). The previous recommended requirements are now Ultra requirements, very glad to hear that! Unfortunately it still does not specify at what resolution or fps the requirements are for. darkbreeze, do you know if the ultra requirements are for 1080p or 1440p?

Here's the link to he article:

You're probably right darkbreeze. That seems to be the pattern with game requirements. So far I've yet to see any game out there that has required a GTX 980 Ti for 1080p High or Ultra and I doubt we will for some time. After seeing the new updated system requirements from Remedy which consist of a i5-4690 and GTX 970 it seems very likely that the Ultra requirements are for 1440p. The i5-4690 and GTX 970 are more than likely for 1080p 60fps, and the i7-4790 and GTX 980 Ti are for 1440p 60fps. I suppose we will find out over the next few days regardless.

Actually, GTA V and Witcher 3 both initially recommended the 980 TI or Titan or AMD equivalent for Ultra settings before they got the driver issues sorted out. Afterwards things went much more smoothly on lower tiered hardware but at first it was getting low frame rates even on the biggest cards at 1080p with everything on. Those are pretty exceptionally demanding games with things like hairworks on though, so I guess that's to be expected at first.

I did not know that about The Witcher 3 and GTA V. I always check the system requirements for games before they come out. I don't always see the ultra requirements though. The Witcher 3 suggests a GTX 770 and GTA V suggested a GTX 660 for recommended. I know some games recommend a GTX 980 Ti or the AMD equivalent for 1440p or 4k but I haven't seen the 980 Ti suggested for 1080p ultra settings. Has there been a game that has suggested that? I honestly can't remember.

Yes, we've already seen those, on multiple sites and in multiple formats. But it still does not indicate what resolution those specifications are targeted for so thanks for repeating what we had already posted, PostStupid.

Thanks darkbreeze, I don't remember seeing that article. I must've missed it. Well hopefully, in time, Microsoft or Remedy will clarify what resolution and frame rate the ultra recommendation is for. That about wraps up this thread though, thanks for all your help!
