I have a cooler Master hyper 212 evo. Is it better to have 2 fans blowing off the heat sink or 1 off, 1 on?

My case has (seemingly) great air flow, but my cpu is running a little hot, so I'm adding a second fan to my heat sink. Is it better to have both blowing away or 1 away, 1 on to?

Solution
You'll want the airflow to go in one direction only.

So the best idea is to have something like this:

<----<----<----(Fan blowing outwards)-----<----<----<-----(coolermaster) ---------

If you do this:

---->---->---->---->----(Fan blowing inwards)---->--||--<------(coolermaster)-----

The hot air is just getting moved around, and not out.

So to answer your question, both blowing away is your best option :)

1. generally, all the fans should be pointed such that they form one big 'path' for the air to flow.
2. adding another fan would not really produce a great difference. if you already have an extra fan, you could; but don't go out and buy one, it's not worth it.

You could alternatively do this

<-----------------<-------------(coolermaster) <-----------<-----------(Fan blowing <- that way)----------(Front of pc)

This would take the cool air from the front of your computer and blow it towards the middle, and would probably be most efficient.
