Computer randomly turns off, like someone just pulled the plug.

Friend is having an issue with his recently built PC. The computer just turns itself off completely, out of nowhere, like someone pulled the plug.

I have no idea what is going on with the PC, but I am suspecting PSU, but want to be sure before I send him a new one.

PC Specs:

Pentium G3258 (Non OC)
R9 270
8GB DDR3 RAM (Corsair Value)
EVGA 500w 80+ PSU
1TB WD Blue HDD.

The first place to check is (I'm assuming your running Windows) is Event Viewer.
See if there are any Error Messages getting logged at the time it shuts off.
If there aren't, then it could be your PSU loosing power. If your outlets power/frequency varies too much it can shut it off, or the PSU could be going bad... Allot of variables

Could be bad psu depends on what series, evga does have some good ones like the g2. But it could also be temps if his gpu or cpu are reaching their max temps they will shut down to prevent damage so you need to monitor temps.

Temps are all green across the board, I made sure that was the first thing I checked. It's just a bog standard EVGA PSU, the white 500w one. Not a SuperNOVA or such.

Unfortunately the only PSU he has is a 300w Zoostorm PSU that has a floppy connector. No PCIE connector so he can't power his GPU.
