I recently bought a ASUS M5A97 R2.0, but it had problems with the chassis fan connectors, so I'm going to replace it with another mobo.

I'm going to buy whatever microcenter offers as a budle with my CPU (AMD FX-8350), so I have two options.

ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0

My build is a studio computer so it's going to be running MIDI programs, interface drivers, mixing board drivers, and so on.

I only play a few games. League of Legends, GTA 4...you know, low profile games that don't require high-end parts.

I've heard the M5A97 R2.0 is a very good mobo as well...should I just consider it a bad luck that I got one that happens to have a chassis fan connector disfunction and get it again? or get either of the two that I've listed above? Help!!!

p.s If you guys could suggest a good ATX Mid-tower case between $50~$65, that'd be great. Thank you :)

I believe ASUS has good products, but if the board is bad, as mine was, their customer support is terrible. I had a M5A99FX PRO R2.0 that I purchased from NewEgg which would not do the Power On Self Test. NewEgg customer service was unable to help, since I did not have a credit card that could allow a second motherboard bill (which they promised to return later). I only had a debit card and PayPal, but that was unacceptable to NewEgg, so they would not take the return. They also told me they would ACCEPT the return only if I returned the bag of screws and adapters unused, and sealed in the original package. I used some of the screws, but they would not accept them if they showed any use. ASUS has been much less than helpful...

The thing is, it's my first time building my personal PC...so even if I look at the specs my self I don't know what's really going on. All I know is both mobos will be good for my build and fit my needs, but I wanted opinions from people who have built a lot of computers and has experience. microcenter and best buy just suggests whatever is more expensive...

Their first and second tier support offered no path for me to replace or swap this motherboard.
