Hey guys, I've been checking my CPU temp on Speccy and it seems to be running on the high side all the time. It shuffles between 80°C when idle and about 90-100°C while gaming. I also think this decreases my PC's performances and I've been starting to lagg very hard about 2 days ago. Running malwarebytes right now and I will post the results later, here are my specs :

Using stock AMD coolers.

Please note, I know very minor of PC stuff so please explain it well.

AMD A8-5500
4,00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz
Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. F2A75M-D3H
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 640

Some more info that might be useful about my CPU :

Solution
Download AMD's Overdrive and tell us or show us what the Thermal Margin is. A lot of programs have a hard job getting reliable temperatures from AMD CPUs.

The problem may be elsewhere. The motherboard lacks heatsinks for the VRMs and are prone to overheating and thermal throttling when the CPU is running at full song. Temporarily moving a case fan and using zip ties to hold it in place to cool the VRMs (components between the socket and the I/O ports at the back) If this solves or reduced the problem, you can decide how to proceed.

Then i'd still be looking at a 70°C which is still considered high, no?

I tried downloading Overdrive from AMD, but it seems my computer is that slow right now that it got stuck for 20 mins on the setup, as to where I canceled it. I will give it a shot again after I have finished running Malware.

Well there is your problem, you are using an amd stock cooler. I suggest you buy a cheap and efficient cooler like the 212 hyper evo or the Zalman led coolers. Both are pretty good, but make sure they can fit in your case. Also did you overclock your CPU, and did you apply the right amount of thermal paste on your CPU and Cooler when you build your computer?

Well I live in the United States, but I will tell you that the 212 hyper evo is a pretty good choice. It should be under $40 or 35.58 euros.

What do you think of the Noctua NH-U9B SE2?
