Hi, i have an alienware 15 i bought in august of last year and since november i was having no issues. One dayz, my performance in dayz and and arma 3 went down dramatically, and i discovered that the reason why was because my gpu was at around 33% all the time. I have tried about everything to fix this, from formatting twice my pc to tweaking for hours in the nvidia control panel and re-installing my drivers. I also have been having some gpu throttling issues in other games but ill worry about that latter. Thanks.

Specs:
gtx 980m 4.00 GB
16gb ram
i7 4710hq

My gpu temps go up to a usual 81 C and my cpu cores i have seen reach 85 C during a normal gaming session in rust or miscreated. But my main issue that is just bothering me so much is my gpu usage being so low in dayz and arma. And thank you so much for the quick reply!

The CPU is getting pretty hot, what is your CPU usage too?

about the same id say, maybe a few degrees lower but nothing that would make much of a difference (around 81- 85 C)

I mean the usage percentage, which shows how much load the processor is under.

My cpu usage in rust and miscreated has been pretty unstable, it has been ranging from 50%-77% and it constantly varies during a normal gameplay session. I have also noticed that sometimes a get a super-stable 99%-100% gpu usage in miscreated and when i restart my pc it can go to 80%-100% and cause lag spikes.

Weird, have you tried a different driver version?

I have tried before downgrading my drivers but it remained the same, i am also having this low gpu usage issue with Nether and RotMG. Do you know of any programs that i can use to moderate my gpu usage? I have already tried using the Nvidia control panel but it was no use either...

The only thing I can think of at the moment is setting "Prefer Maximum Performance" in the Nvidia Control Panel, if you haven't already.

I have, it changes nothing for me... I jut need help with the low gpu usage issue, i managed to fix the gpu throttling, i just put a simple desk fan behind my laptop and it managed to reduce by a bit the issue

You are playing with the laptop plugged in? Other than that, setting max performance in windows is the only thing I can think of.
