i was thinking of upgrading my desktop PC a bit but i'm kinda new to this so i thought i'd ask the almighty internetizens
for advice..

this is what i have currently:
CPU: Intel Core i7 4770
Current GPU: GTX760 OEM 1.5GB
Current PSU: HP AcBel PCA246 460W 633187-002 (100V-240V)
RAM: 12GB
CD/DVD Drive: HP DVD-Ram SW820
HDD: Seagate ST500DM002-1BD142 500GB

and i was thinking of upgrading my GPU to Asus GTX 960 STRIX DC2OC-4GD5, but a friend of mine said i'd probably need to upgrade the PSU as well.. so this PSU seemed appealing on a quick glance: Silverstone 500W, Strider Essential-230, ATX 2.3, 80 Plus.

i apologize for any bad english ( not my native language you see.. )
and in general for being a noob to all of this. All help is appreciated!

(EDIT: i'm gonna leave this one open for now just to see what people are saying.. and yeah, the reason i'm gonna get a new GPU isn't for the upgrade itself, but rather a replacement for a dead GPU. )

Solution
I have the VS 550 myself combined with my 960 0 problems ;)

Ahh, perhaps i should have elaborated.. my GPU pretty much just ate a bag and i was meaning to upgrade it a bit.... mostly for VRAM benefits. but if my current PSU can handle it i'd be alright with that. i'm just worried about it crapping out on me and damaging the new GPU itself.

So if i understand right. You are curious if your 450 watt is enough? 450 watt should be more than enough ;)

(And btw sorry for my bad enlish its not my native laungage either)

yeah, i guess i am actually... i've had a very long day ;_;
i was digging up on the allmighty google and there was some ongoing debate about whether 460w would be enough to support GTX960.. never got a definitive answer to it. other than: " it might work but might crap out with generic PSU "
and if we're going there i'd just rather be on the safe side.

pretty much exactly what happened actually.
alright, i guess i'll risk it then. I just hope my generic PSU won't damage it :(

Your could always upgrade your PSU a little not somthing crazy expensive :b Try taking a look at somthing like a Corsair VS 550 or a Corsair CX 600? :)
