Would a i5-6600k cpu be a worthwhile upgrade from AMD A10-6700??

First thing's first, i use my PC for Video Editing and Gaming.

I have had the AMD A10-6700 for about 3years as it came in an Asus pre-built (M11BB) PC that I've since upgraded in every way besides the CPU, ram, and mobo. I've noticed my CPU getting to high temps, or what I'm inclined to say are high temps, like 90degrees Celsius and around 60degrees while idle. I've researched benchmarks on my current CPU and the i5-6600k and there didn't appear to be that much of an improvement over my current CPU...which doesn't seem accurate imo.

Current Build:
Cpu: AMD A10-6700
Mobo: Asus F2A55-M
RAM: 8gb kingston DDR3
Gpu: EVGA Gtx 970 sc
PSU: Thermaltake 600w
HDD: 1tb + a 2tb SHDD (both seagate)

I plan on getting an Asus Z170-A mobo and 8gb of DDR4 G Skill RAM to go with the i5-6600k if its a worthwhile upgrade.

Hopefully you guys can help. also hope i provided enough info since this is my first post.

the i5 6600k is going to be much better than the A-10 and it is a worthwhile upgrade. however, with the newest generation of gaming becoming more and more intensive it may last you only about 3-5 more years if you're lucky. who knows though, we will see as newer games come out.

And the i5 6600k can be overclocked if you wanted to do that sort of thing.

maybe if you gave me your current budget on the CPU I could give you some other options that might be better?

I don't really want to spend anymore than the $250 which is the current price on the i5-6600k. also thanks for the insight on my question!

If i do this upgrade i do actually plan on repasting the old cpu and using my spare parts to build a decent facebook machine for my household :)

that's gonna be what you're going to get then. it's still a good cpu that won't bottleneck your gpu at all.
