Hello once again.

So just recently finished building my new PC about 2 weeks ago and have been running windows 10 on it since (retail version, not upgrade). I'm over windows 10 and would like to go to windows 7.
I've mounted my win7 iso file to my usb and booted but when I get to the select the driver to be install screen I get the "load driver" error.

I know this is a good USB install because I used it a few weeks ago. It is also in the usb 2.0 port.
I am using a Maximus Hero 8 motherboard which I don't think makes a difference. Also running 2 SSDs if that changes anything.

Any help would be appreciated. If you need some more info please ask and I'll reply asap.

I really like the layout and everything but a lot of small things windows 7 does excellently like tethering via usb. Also I just know my way around 7 a lot more.

Do you think I could download the files online and burn it to the ISO with windows 7 on it? Or do I need the cd?

Heyy, a fellow Kiwi.

Sorry, pretty amateur at this stuff. I'm not 100% sure on what you mean. I just mounted the whole ISO to my usb and booted from that? And when I get the the "Load driver" page during setup I just get the error message. I think the problem is USB 3.0 drivers... Even though I have it plugged into a 2.0 slot.

Yup I'm a kiwi :)

Umm when you say mount WHAT did you do??

You cant copy it as is, to the flash drive.

An ISO isnt bootable, unless you mount it from within windows 8/10 which can mount ISO's

You have to use something like Rufus to extract whats in it to the flash drive, this will make it bootable

Then you make it the bootdisk in the BIOS then boot from it

So the driver message you saw said something like cd drivers or something?

I am using Windows 10 atm. And just used UltraISO to mount/burn it to the USB. And then booted the usb from the Bios. And then when going to install windows7 is when I get the load driver error.

Is it a flash drive??

Didnt know you could use burning programs to burn ISO's to a flash drive or USB hdd.

You need a cd or dvd. I would say that screwed it up doing it that way

Use Rufus it'll probably work.

If the system youre installing it on supports UEFI and secureboot. Select UEFI in Rufus, add the ISO then start. It'll format whats on the flash drive the extract the ISO

Is it Win7 32 or 64 bit?

I meant mount. Yes it is a flash drive. Il give Rufus a go. Pretty sure I need the asus USB drivers though..
It's win7 64bit

Umm well we can fix that if thats the prob. BUT it should install if youre using a USB 2 port

Just follow my last post before your last post

I dont think Win 7 64 bit supports secureboot so you may have to disable it in the BIOS before you boot from the flash drive

You need Windows 8 +

Ok i'm just mounting the ISO using rufus now. Will try and see if I get an error. Then will try after disabling secureboot and see if anything changes. Then will get back to you. BRB

Ok so didn't work. And i'm not sure if I can turn off secureboot in bios. Was greyed out.

I just selected MBR partition scheme for BIOS or UEFI-CSM and file system NTFS. Those settings were both auto selected

I got the ISO from http://mirror.corenoc.de/digitalrivercontent.net/

en_windows_7_professional_with_sp1_x64_dvd_u_676939.iso

I have no idea what you mean by change it to UEFI in Rufus and then try again in Rufus.

It didn't work because it said "load driver" again.

There's an option under the flash drive MBR and GPT. Change it to GPT partition. Then add the ISO again and click on start

Oh so its a torrent, which may have been altered or something. Because you can no longer download Win7 ISO's from MS. They blocked the links

That may or may not be the main prob. Where in NZ are you?

Auckland. Yes it is a torrent. I got this win7 license when I was studying and it won't let me download from MS. It is a legit copy and if it doesn't work I will have to buy a new CD key. But I have used this exact same image a few times and it works fine. Just not with my new PC which I'm guessing is because of the USB drivers / mobo.

If]https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25476/Windows-7-USB-3-0-Creator-Utility]If you think the drivers are the prob get this[/url]

Plug the flash drive in and wait for it to finish. I've read its meant to take 15 mins but it took forever when I tried it. But this was in a USB 2 port.

It maybe shorter if you use a USB 3 port

Another thing to try change the USB option in the BIOS to AUTO. If it's on enabled. People have fixed the driver prob by changing it to AUTO
