Would this change be a great leap?

Ok, so this is it, I have a 3 year old fx-6100 that I have never ever replaced it's termal paste, of course i have cleaned it with an airblower. And i'm planning to buy the fx-8350, as it would be cheaper to replace Mobo AND buy an I5, and I don't care if the 8350 will run 4 fps less than the I5.
The problema is this: For example, I can run games like battlefield 3 in ultra maxed out at 55-60 fps with vsinc on, but randomly I get sttuters which I think is caused by the CPU, because at those settings my VRAM is just at 1,90 GB out of 4gb. And in black ops 3 is the same, almost maxed out except for antialiasing which i dont like to have it maxed out, but random stutters. Skyrim the same, maxed out, random annoying stutters. So if I change my 3 year old cpu which i have used it a lot, for a fx-8350 because im stuck at amd (mobo). Would this stutters go and maybe run some more fps higher?, thanks. and also, how do I check my HDD's rpm? thanks,

NOTE: no, it is not a temperatura issue, both of them stay at 40-50 celcius degrees. or less

gtx 960 4gb from msi, i can take most games on high settings, but i feel that my shitty old ( probably torn apart because I probably overheated a lot when i was a noob and kept my computer that has a shitty airflow system on a close space ) is bottlenecking it, and thanks
