I recently bought all the parts to build my very first computer and I was able to put everything together properly, however when I plugged it up to see if it would post the screen stayed black.

I have 2 sticks of 8GB EVGA DDR4 2400 ram plugged into a Gigabyte h110m-a mobo. There are two slots on this mobo and the computer only posts when slot 2 has ram. I tried both sticks in slot 2 so they definitely aren't the problem. It will not boot up if anything is put into slot 1.

I've been searching around and most people are saying its a faulty slot but I would think that a faulty slot wouldn't cause the other slot not to work.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I went ahead and updated the BIOS to the latest stable version and no changes.

Solution
Update: I decided to check the CPU for dust and I inspected the mobo for any damage and I noticed a part of the CPU socket that looked slightly different than the rest of it. So I took my phone and a magnifying glass and found that ONE... YES ONE pin was slightly off to the right side instead of the left.
I could have gone and returned my mobo but instead I decided I'd try to fix it myself. I took my phone, turned the flash on, and went to the camera app. I zoomed in and held my phone against the case and proceeded to bend the pin to the right direction using a baby pin.
10 minutes later... and all problems are gone! The whole process of cleaning the parts inspired me to do some wire management since it was all over the place...
