So i bought these parts to construct a budget gaming pc, and so far me and my dad have put the fans, psu, vga, motherboard, processor, hard drive, heat-sink and cpu cooler in. We accidentally bought laptop ram and will be purchasing normal 8gb desktop ram soon. We then turned on the pc, to see all the parts moving and working which was nice, but once the hdmi cable was plugged into the monitor the monitor would say that there was no signal coming from the hdmi. We plugged the hdmi cable into the motherboard and then the vga card and neither had any signal. Is this because we have no ram? Or is it because of the monitor? pls help. The mother board came with the disc and i am now wondering if i need a cd drive.

Solution
Yes you guessed it. No pc will function without ram. Safe to test without ram to see things power up but won't get anything more.
