Can you use separate 6 and 8 pin from the PSU to the GPU?

So i just Ordered a r9 390 and I have a Corsair CX750m .. the PSU came with a 6pin cable and a 8 pin the splits into two 2-6pin connectors.. I am also sleeving my cables and id like to use Separate 6 and 8 pin connectors from the PSU to the GPU in stead of the one 8 pin that splits into the two 2-6pins.. my question is can i use the 6 and 8 separate or do i have to use the 8 pin with the splits?

the answer is it does not matter for that power supply. it has a single 12v rail so no matter what arrangement of cables you use it will still get the power from the same place. use the single cable for the sake of nice cable management which is the idea behind a modular psu :)

using 2 cables won't accomplish anything other than adding an extra cable to your case to worry about tucking away.

it would be better to use 2 separate cables


your power supply is quite poor though, I recommend you upgrade your power supply to a GOOD 650w

Well a 650 w power supply would not run my pc .. id be about 60 w short .. but i already have a 850w on order ..either way the question is the same

You did answer the question! thanks.. the reason im interested in running separate cables is because it looks cleaner after i Custom sleeve all my cables. i was just making sure the GPU wasn't going to have an issue with the power coming from two different ports on the PSU
