Is a Elastic Anti-Static wrist strap worth it?

My friend and I are making a pc for him. I have a bit more knowledge than him (but that doesn't mean I'm a pro). Anyways, Is buying two of these worth it?

Nope. Static ever so rarely (we're talking about almost 1 report per year of said event) kills electronics these days.

if youre really worried, touch the case after walking around before picking up gear. Lay stuff down on their antistatic bags.
RAM used to be sensitive many years ago.
Just dont lick it.

$2000? Then the motherboard, PSU, and RAM should be MUCH less susceptible to static than the normal human. The circuitry on the said parts are well designed to suppress too much voltage coursing through everything. The board itself acts as ground to prevent static from killing. Same goes for pretty much any other components.

i told you. touch the case after moving around and lay the stuff on antistatic bag.

Put the PSU in the case first, attach the power lead and plug it into the wall socket (but don't switch it on) - this will ground the case. Avoid putting components onto carpet or artificial fibres (use a card box or antistatic bag/wrap), and avoid assembling your PC on a sunny carpet whilst shuffling around in nylon socks - just try to sit moderately still, and touch the case to discharge any static before handling any components, or after moving around, and it'll be very unlikely anything gets damaged.
