Why did my Motherboard fail?

I have recently upgraded my pc with a new motherboard and cpu going from an asrock FM2A78M Pro3+ paired with an amd A8 6600k to a gigabyte 970A UD3P paired with an amd fx8320E.
After performing the upgrade, I noticed that when playing games the pc would crash and I quickly realised that the psu I had was not powerful enough for my equipment (gpu is an overclocked nvidea geforce gtx 750 ti). I replaced that power supply witch was a Atng 400w 80 plus for an FSP raider 750w 80 plus silver psu. Unfortunately the pc will no longer boot with the new or old power unit and after testing I've concluded that the mobo must be dead. What I don't understand is why it has died. I'll add that before I'd received the new power supply I had continued playing games with the old one installed as it would t crash straight away.. but the system still probably crashed 5 or 6 times

Will either of the PSUs still boot the old rig?

The FX-8320E and the -UD3P should be a potent combination, especially if it's a Rev2 motherboard (I've got one). You might want to start a trouble ticket with GB to be on the safe side.

It happens --- components go bad. Though the old 400w PSU gave you issues on the new build, with your components you were not really pushing the power envelop too much.

None of the two psu's will boot the rig.. So the problem lies with the cpu and the mobo itself or is it as you say.. The power supply continuously damaged the motherboard ?
