Hi there
I've had a few issues with wifi and an extender that I bought so I decided to reset the router to factory settings - what a mistake, took 2 hours with BT on the phone to get normal connection again through the laptop.
Anyway, forgetting the extender for the moment, I am now having the wifi connection drop out every few minutes. Most importantly my father who sits next to me is NOT experiencing any issues at all.
I have checked other possible solutions regarding this issue and it does seem that there are plenty of options there and some work for some but not for others - I am in the latter category
Here is my information:
Laptop: Acer Travelmate P253E
Adapter: Broadcom 802.11n
Ram: 8gb
Processor: Intel Celeron 1000 @ 1.7ghz
Router: BT Home Hub 5
Connection: BT Infinity - Fibre Optic >38mb
When I'm connected the surfing is excellent, fast, clean and downloading @ around 4mb a second, couldn't be happier, it's just this wifi dropping that's doing my head in!
I've been to the Acer website and downloaded the latest adapter driver and it's installed and I have changed the power settings as recommended elsewhere so that doesn't affect anything.
I've also done the cmd: netsh reset thing, rebooted etc but still no joy...
Someone mentioned to right click the network adapter within Device Manager, choose Properties and then advanced and change to ad hoc? What do I change to ad hoc though? As far as I can see when you click Advanced there is a panel on the left with lots of "things" and a little box at the top right to change the state (enabled, disabled etc) - would this help (If I knew what to do)???
Any other suggestions would be great please... I am presuming it's something on this laptop that I need to do as my father never drops out, my mobile works fine connected to the router etc as does the TV when they're using it to watch something on catch up (I would have heard about it otherwise lol)
Much appreciated to anyone who can help with this.
Cheers
