Hello, i am thinking of getting an i7 4790k this month and a 980ti in June, and right now i have the g3259 Pentium CPU, and i game a lot, and stream a lot, is it still worth getting the i7 4790k to last 4 years or 3 years?
I think it would easily last 3-4yrs. In some cases it's neck and neck with skylake and in others only barely outperformed. Do you already have a solid z97 motherboard that the pentium g is running on?

i just built a new 4790k system a month ago, june 2016 with a gtx 1070.i don't plan on upgrading again until cannonlake, so the 4790k is still a great option for 2016,even now i see the 4790k better than the 6700k in single threaded apps and gaming, cpu's haven't come that far since the 2600k, i am hoping for a mainstream 6 core before i upgrade again.
