Looking for a CPU to run good with Palit GTX 960 Super jetstream 2gb

A Pentium G3258 oC'ed to 4.5GHz wouldn't bottleneck the GPU, but would suffer in CPU intensive games.
An i3 would do a bit better in these CPU intensive games, but nothing to good
An i5 Quad core would do great and prove no bottlenecks in GPU/CPU related games.
An i5 'k' would be even better, and thats what Id suggest.

I think that i3 would be enough and didnt bottleneck. But if you say, that price doesnt matter, then that i would go with an i5. Thats a bit overpower, but it would be good for future upgrade maybe. I5 K only if you want to overclock, but with this card, theres no need to overclock processor i think.

An i3 will defiantly suffer in CPU intensive games. It depends on what games you wish to play.

Please tell that to my i3-6100 OC'd to 4.44ghz with 3200 DDR4 OC'd to 3500=/- with a 950 Pro M.2 SSD.
GTX 780 does not come close to bottlenecking it in any way.

Happy?

Never said anything about an i3 (An processor made by intel) CPU (Central Processing Unit) bottlenecking (Not allowing full efficiency) for the GPU (Graphical Processing Unit). What I did say (In both my earlier post, and now) is that in games which require (need) multiple (alot) amount of cores (The thing in your 'Central Processing Unit' that does the work) will suffer (lack) in performance when played (ran) on a 2 physical core processor (the i3), compared to a 4 physical core processor (i5).

I put some basic definitions in brackets, incase some of these words are new, or confuse you.
You can also use This dictionary link for extra clarification, and I do recommend you watch This tutorial too.

If you would like more help, just message me back and ill be sure to reply.

PS. You can also message me back incase you need to know how to install Minecraft mods, or texture packs.

I think you are misunderstanding what bottleneck means. Your first sentence completely contradicts itself. If the Pentium suffers in CPU intensive games that is the definition of a CPU bottleneck.

When your CPU is the limiting factor in a game instead of the GPU we call it a bottleneck. For example if you have a game where the GPU is able to put out 60 FPS but the CPU is only able to put out 30 FPS you have a CPU bottleneck preventing your GPU from living up to its potential.

To the OP, if you can afford an i5-6500 and an H170 motherboard you would have a great CPU for your 960 and you would probably be able to continue using it when you upgrade your GPU again in the future.

If you would rather save a little money an i3-6100 and the same H170 motherboard would be a good pairing for a 960 but might not hold up as well for future GPU upgrades.

I would avoid the Pentium in all cases since there are already some games that won't even boot with less than 4 CPU threads.

I am not talking about bottleneck, or the GPU. Im saying, In a CPU heavy application, If you have a garbage CPU your not gonna get good Performance.
Why do you think they introduced turbo boost?

Yes, I have heard of hyperthreading, thats why I wrote 'physical' core.

Again, that is the definition of a CPU bottleneck. If you tell someone a CPU won't bottleneck their GPU you are telling them it's safe to buy that CPU without worrying about it hurting their gaming performance. It's important to be clear about this stuff when someone is going to spend their money based on the advice you give them.
