I have a prebuilt console peasant computer that came with the windows disk but no activation key number
If i use the windows disk that came with the computer on another computer and use the "Product ID" in control panel > system will it activate successfully?
Product ID looks like this: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
Or are product keys only one time use?

Solution

The "Product ID" does not look like that.
Your XXX...... is the License key. 2 different things.

And no, you cannot use the License key on a different PC. A prebuilt PC comes with an OEM license, which is licensed to that original system. Not transferable.
"Product ID" is NOT the license key. The license key is a 25 character string (xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx) that will be found either in the box the Windows DVD came in, or on a sticker somewhere either on or in the PC's case.

And, as has been repeated ad infinitum on this site (and others), what you have is an OEM copy of Windows that is permanently tied to the first system it is installed on and cannot be transferred to another system.

Bottom line: New computer = Purchase new Windows license
