Solution
R9 390 > GTX 970. You can easily find benchmarks. 390 has more power but in some games you will see 970 go ahead due to poor game optimization (NVIDIA has 80% of GPU market so game developers will optimize for NVIDIA). 390 also has 8GB VRAM which will prove more useful at higher resolutions and in DX12. Get the 970 if you want stability and good drivers.

Please do not overclock on the CX power supply. Please do not. If you want to upgrade your GPU, you might as well get a good PSU. Supernova 750W B2 is on sale for $65 right now and is a bargain for its price. It is a solid unit which is Tier 2. If you want to go all out, you can look into Supernova G2, GS, or P2 (GQ is also good but somewhat similar quality to B2) are one of the...

Yes, it will run crossfire but I always recommend to have one single more powerful card to have weaker ones. I would get into Crossfire or SLI only when you get like a Fury, 980, Fury X, or 980 Ti.

But yes, that PSU will run them in Crossfire.
