My brother has a pc with amd apu 5300 and 4gb ram(no discrete graphics).

I know it's not the best since it's dual core amd and has integrated graphics.

Can the chip be overclocked, the graphics or the processor part( i don't know how it works )?
Is it worth overclocking or should he save to buy a discrete graphics or a whole CPU&GPU combo?

It is NOT worth it.

Better to change the whole thing or at least get a high end APU such as a cheap A8-7600 which is actually pretty powerful.

If you are talking about the A4-5300 then you will be able to upgrade the APU without having to replace the mobo if the mobo's BIOS supports the APU.

Also, in order to get the best performance out of the APU, you really need at least 8GB of fast RAM (1866+).

Hope I have answered all of your questions.

Good luck :)
