I need a PC that will run any game at highest settings and get over 144 fps in 1440p at least for the next 10 years or so.

PC partpicker list would be appreciated :)

The reason why is primarily because games will continuously get more demanding. Look up flagship (the highest-end) GPUs from 10 years ago (2006). They could never run the latest games at 144hz at 1440p.

Also, because of the fact that Nvidia doesn't allow video card manufacturers to add custom (non-reference) coolers to the Titan X, four highly overclocked 980 Ti's would outperform four Titan X's.

Simply stacking a bunch of gpu's in crossfire or sli doesn't boost performance by the amount of cards. 2 titans don't give twice the gpu performance, 3 don't give 3x the performance etc. It just doesn't scale that well and each time you go up from 1 to 2 to 3 etc there are more and more diminishing returns. Not to mention vram doesn't stack, not all games make the best use of sli (even with 2 cards, much less 3+). The more cards you add the more complex it gets and more likelihood of issues.

Usually at some point it's better to have a single stronger card than 2 weaker cards and after 5+ years even top end gpu's are going to be mid range at best more than likely. Purely speculation since that's all that can be done until hardware and games actually materialize over the years.

Tech constantly advances, hardware, os's, games. There's no such thing as 'future proofing' and trying to dump a ton of money at once to build a pc that will last (and perform top tier) for a decade is pure folly. Upgrades periodically will always be necessary.

Let's think realistically here for a moment. Four Titan X cards (Potentially being Oc'd and water cooled) will run you pretty much 5 grand by themselves. If we were to pair this with a CPU and motherboard that can handle the load without being a SIGNIFICANT bottleneck to the cards, we would end up with something like this:

Now, we could come up with FIVE PCs that would last you two years a piece (The average upgrade schedule) that could play 1440p at a decent framerate. Maybe something like:

I personally believe that even the Titan X will go obsolete within the next few years just as most hardware does. Just my 2 cents :)
