6700k drops to 3.8ghz when tested with IBT/P95

Hello.
I got my 6700k setup on stock on msi z170m mortar with cryorig c1
1st of all it take around ~1.330v, tho when i change the ratio from auto to x40 it takes ~1.180v
But, when i run IBT my core speed drops to 3.8 and basicly only jumps to 4ghz for like 2-3 seconds.On P95 its even worse cause it only jumps but on single cores, never on4 of them at once.The temperatures are around 66C.
When i run Dota2, OSD monitors show constant 4ghz.When i run IBT while Dota2 my fps drops a little (from 144 to 120) and the monitors show the same values as for IBT running only (3.8ghz with jumps to 4)

When i OC'd it to 4.4Ghz @ 1.275 i had even worse results. Core speeds were set on 3.3ghz and jumping to 4.4ghz.

Is it possible that my chip is broken?I didnt intend to OC it ( not now atleast ) but well , seeing 3.8ghz when the processor should be running at 4ghz is kinda frustrating.Any ideas on that?

The chip will lower the multiplier if it senses that it is getting too hot.
Downdraft coolers, in general, are not as effective as tower types.
Id your case airflow good?
Take the covers off and see if that helps.
If it does, look to a case cooling solution.
Skylake runs cool, and I would not expect the results you are having.

The intel burn test and prime95 stress with non usual instructions.
That generates heat which you will not see in normal operations.
Try testing with occt. It will graph your temperatures and stop the test at 85c.

Ok, i updated bios and it helped, on auto/auto i get the 4ghz reading.Tho when i set ratio on auto and set voltage to 1.25 tests in IBT shows 4ghz but doesnt show any sign of turboboost to 4.2.Temps on auto/1.25 are 64C max so i guess pretty ok.

Throttling temperature is about 100c.
You are nowhere near that.
Turbo kicks in on one core when the others have little to do.

I would implement adaptive voltage and speedstep.
That will lower the multiplier and vcore when there is little to do.

If you want, then you can gradually raise the multiplier, but it is hardly necessary with the 6700K.

IBT is intended to generate heat. It is ok if you want to test your cooler.
If you want to overclock, OCCT is a better stress tester.
The metric to monitor is Vcore. Keep that at 1.40 or lower under load.

hm, ill try to do that tho iam kind green when it comes to OC.
Btw my motherboard.Maybe here lies the problem?Iv read that stock voltage is around 1.22-1.25 on z170 motherboards. mine hits 1.3

With skylake, the top vcore seems to be about 1.4v.
Silicon lottery bins chips and sells the better ones for a price premium.
Here are some stats:
What percent can get an overclock at a somewhat sane 1.40v
I7-6700K
4.8 12%
4.7 51%
4.6 89%

The i7-6700K is really so good, do you actually need to overclock at all?
At stock, it should run 4.0 with 4.2 turbo.

ok iam setup on Ratio auto, voltage mode auto, voltage 1.200. It seems stable, idle works , turbo boost works temps doesnt hit more than 66C.
Whenever i change voltage mode to like offset or adaptive it stops idle/turbo from working.

well, there is one little but.Idle is working , boost is working, but i dont have 4ghz Oo.
It never hit this number , its either 800 mhz with jumps like 1300 3400, and 4.2 when iam doing anything.Like its boosted all the time.

That is normal, and how you would want it to work.

Loaf with little to do, and go full out when you have lots of work to do.

well on that A00 bios and when i first run the pc, it was working like, when i used chrome or something it was @ 4ghz, when i started dota it jumped to 4.2 and when i did nothing it was 800.
And btw why would temperatures on stock settings in bios hit around 85C, isnt it to big with even the 1.330v?

when i turn XMP off, I lose turbo boost and cpu on load is on 4ghz Oo.When its one i got the readings from before with 4.2 as the load numbers.The hell is going on
