My family has about 18 devices connected to the Internet 24/7 and computer gets none of it.

I play on the computer to use Skype and play games and most of the time Skype cuts out or my game I play gets so much ping it's unplayable.

My download speed for the Internet is about 10mbps and the upload is 1mbps. So im wondering is there anyway to increase my bandwidth priority.

My router is the tg797n v3 and the firmware version is 15.2.

Are you using wireless or cabled connection?

Either way. The best way I know of is to get a dual band or tri-band router. Meaning when you search for connections you will get a 2.4ghz choice and a 5ghz or two 5ghz choices. Each with different passwords/names or even hidden names. Each can be allocated a maximum amount of bandwidth.

Get the new router, lock your family out of one of the 5ghz channels and delegate 50% of your rated bandwidth to it. If you have a 100mbs internet the max the other channel will be able to use is 50 for example, leaving 50 just for you :).

Updated my post above.

I do this currently. I let guests and other family members use one 2.4ghz band. I don't even share the 5ghz password it is mine. The maximum bandwidth of the 2.4GHZ is 50mbs, on my 200mbs connection. Meanwhile my 5ghz connection can use all 200mbs. But never falls below 150mbs if others are using it.

You have all kinds of problems to accomplish this. Wireless in general favors the device with the best signal..normally the closest. Not much you can do this is a function of how radio works.

Pretty much you are asking how do I make other peoples stuff run worse so mine can run better. Is that a acceptable to the other people involved or will we see a post here saying a family member decreased my priority how do I fix it. This agreement is much harder than the technical aspects. The only real solution is to buy enough bandwidth so everyone can do what they need.

On top of all this I do not think your router has the ability to even do simple stuff...hard to say there are variations of these routers that ISP have made changes to. Likely you will have to buy a new router....and even then you can not really fix your problem 100%.
