Sorry for necroing, but 4 GB will make a difference in games such as GTA V if you plan on cranking the settings. With heavy AA, it has been seen using as much as 3.5 GBs at 1080p. It doesn't always justify the extra ~50 bucks, but 4 GB would make me feel safer.

If you can wait for a few months till next generation of nvidia will come out and can afford a graphics' card at the price of 250 then you will probably get a gtx 970 for today's price of gtx 960 4gb, or even save a few more money and go for something even better i m not sure investing money for this generation of gpus is the best idea atm. Then again all depends on what gpu you re currently using if you don't enjoy the time you spend using your PC then by all means go for it as, despite the rumous, noone can tell when GP100 is going to be releashed.

Uh, usually after announcing a new generation, the older one jumps noticeably in prices. I suspect Pascal will be unveiled sometime in April, but they probably won't ship until August. Considering that at 1080p the 960 already offers formidable performance, I don't think that waiting half a year for something that might turn out to be a big flop is worth it.

both are compatible with DX12
the big advantage of 960 over 380 is that nvidia have good drivers rather than amd they always have a problem with it try to watch it on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBBw5nssai0

Of course both are compatible with DX12 but have you seen the results of using DX12's Async? nVidia GPUs are simply not built for Async, whereas AMD GPUs got anywhere from 5% to 40% more FPS in game benchmarks than their nVidia counterparts. Also, for GTX 960 money you can usually get an R9 380X which is a heck of a lot faster.

IMO if you're on a budget all this FAR outweighs having to deal with one or two driver issues.
