Hey

So i'm at a crossroads here, please help!
I only need motherboard, ram and CPU to complete my build for a GTX 970. These are the options i'm considering.

Ultimate value:
2500k bundle /used) - 2000 kr. ~ 310 dollars

4790k build:
Z97-A, i7-4790k, 16 GB Kingston HyperX Beast DDR3-2400 DC, all used but for very little time. There's still one year warranty. 3200 kr. ~475 dollars

6600k build:
New 6600k - 1800kr. ~245 dollars
New Z170 pro gaming - 1200kr ~170 dollars
Some DDR4 ram - 400 kr. ~ 60 dollars
Total: 475 dollars

I intend to travel when i finish my education, at which point i probably will sell my PC. That will be in 2 years, so i have to take in to consideration what will keep its value. I wonder if we in 2 years will think of DDR3 as we do of DDR2 now (i wouldn't buy a PC with DDR2 memory).

Any help is appreciated!

I agree the price to performance ratio is very much better here. But what do you think about resaleability? In 2 years when i plan to get rid of my computer, the 2500k will be VERY old. I know this is hard to say, but do you think that there is a possibility that the extra 165 dollars in the skylake build will be worth it in the end?

Well, going down to a 6400 could cut of 400kr, and then maybe another 400 getting a cheaper motherboard since i wouldn't need one that supports overclocking. So all in all 800kr. ~110 dollars could potentially be cut off. The non-overclockability might be a turn-off though. It's really hard to say imo.
