I am getting my PC in about a week and my friend told me about static electricity and I have been worrying about it alot. I am planning to build it on a wooden desk and my floor is tiled. What precautions should I take?

Solution
Nowadays, static electricity rarely destroys parts due to all the precautions and technologies the companies put on their boards. As long as you aren't on the carpet wearing socks, you will be fine.

Thanks, been worrying about it for like 2 hours lol. Getting all the parts on around Friday.

the trick if you dont have anti static wrist guard is one not to move a lot around the table then pick something up. if you have to walk around the table before you pick a part up pick up your keys and tuch the power supply or case where there a lot of metal to ground out. when building put the cpu..ram and cooler on the mb then put the power supply in the case then the mb. connect power leads from the power supply to the mb. every part keeps a comon ground. dont plug in the power supply as most of them will give the mb 5v and you can short out part when you plug them in.
