Recently moved into college, there is only Ethernet and were not supposed to use routers as sometimes they conflict with the colleges router settings. Anyway i tried bridging my Ethernet to my WiFi card to see if i could use that to get WiFi on my phone, and ever since my Ethernet has not worked. There is no light on the port and even though it is plugged in the troubleshooter says that i need to plug in or replace my cable.

I've tried reinstalling drivers so and that has not worked, is it safe to assume the port is dead?
Also why would bridging networks cause it to die? Or was it just a coincidence that it happened in that exact moment?

Thanks
