Dual channel ram on quad channel mobo?

Solution
First thing would be to check with Asus and ensure they have BIOS support for 16GB sticks, on release, they supported up to 8GB sticks with a max of 64 in an 8x8GB config. The Ripjaws V (along with the Trident Z) are GSkill's upper end sticks (use stronger, better binned ICs for OC ability) - The Ripjaws V are great sticks, haven't tried any of the Aegis yet

Why is 16gb X 4 quad channel so rare? I can't really go 32gb as I can max it absolutely easily when I work, so... what's my option? 8x8?

Mainly because most enthusiasts do not need more than 16GB, maybe 32GB for prosumers, in their PCs. There isn't a huge market for 64GB consumer kits.

If you go into server memory kits, you can find 4x32GB kits.
