Having an IP is not going to harm anything. When you goto tomshardware.com your computer gets the ip address(this allows addresses that change while keeping the same website address). Many things work on IP.
A website that is compromised would be an issue(less of an issue with your browser upto date). I would run a scan with malwarebytes or similar and your normal virus scanner to be sure.
