3.40 gigahertz Intel Core i7-2600K; 250 gb OCZ-AGILITY3; 16Gb Ram; 1Tb Samsung HD used for Photoshop scratch disk & 3Tb WD used for storage.
For the past 3 1/2 years the computer has worked faultlessly.The operating system is on OCZ SSD. I recently replaced the 3 Tb drive, it is used only for storage, which was becoming difficult to read. When removed the system works as normal. It was of the same make, Western Digital. Now with the new drive it does exactly the same. Can any one give me an insight to the cause & a possible solution?

I'd advise you to try using a different SATA cable with the drive and also try plugging it to a different SATA port on the motherboard. If you have any important data that is not backed up, I'd advise you to do that and then run the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from
