Ok so I have a laptop, it has an i7 and I'm wondering if by having the highest percentage speed(100%) and the minimum speed at 20% (from the power options settings) affects the CPU's life.

Cause if I do that my processor will keep switching speeds from 1ghz to 1.5 ghz and then 2ghz and then 3 ghz and then 1 ghz again in a matter of seconds, and I'm using the laptop like 6 hours a day. So maybe it lowers the cpu's life cause then the voltage changes ofcourse very often , not to mention the workload, the little heat difference maybe from core to core???
Does this option of the processor to change it's speed from 20% to 100% and back to 20% in a couple of seconds ,based by needs, affect it's life?

Solution
nope. have it run at 100% at all times if you'd like, no different in what i said. make sure the charger is connected if you force max performance mode in power options, otherwise you run the risk of damaging the battery. i always take out the battery in all my laptops and run them with charger only, as long as im not travelling.
