I have a gtx 680 and a 550w psu (and some random case) and I have $200 nzd ($130 usd) to get a cpu that wont bottleneck the 680 (or not bottleneck by much) and a motherboard (no ddr2 that is hella expensive for ram I might aswell go with a ddr3 board as I would save $10), 8GB (the lowest I am willing to go is 6GB) of RAM and HDD of at least 500gb to go with it(mainly used parts). I was thinking of a i5 2500 or 2400 which would cost me about $100 but then I have $100 to find a motherboard ram and hard drive which surprise surprise the lga 1155 board would cost me $80 or more if used and $20 to find a HDD and some RAM is impossible (that is of decent size). So can someone recommend me some ideas on what to look for used or new and if anyone from NZ can give me some good sites to find used or really cheap parts. Thanks

You are welcome!

NOTE: That hard drive is the only one that fits the budget and is not trash. You can of course get this HDD instead but it is a "white label" hard drive and nobody wants to use those: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-500GB-16MB-7200RPM-SATA2-3-5-Hard-Drive-for-PC-Mac-DVR-CCTV-1-Year-Warranty-/110898089121?hash=item19d20a8ca1:m:mQEnC4GptlgergK7dNmnwdw

I do not think an i5 is in your budget, to be honest. I would either save up a bit more money and get the i5, or go down the path of an i3 setup. Depending on what you're doing you may not ever see the difference between an i3 and i5 anyway. You can find cheap used i3+mobo+ram combos on ebay from people upgrading their CPU to skylake from time to time. Also, depending on what you're doing I would recommend an SSD over HDD. I have seen used 160gb intel SSDs go for cheap as well and a lot of them are coming from workstations that only used them as a boot drive.

The problem is used i3's cost may be cheap but would bottleneck the gtx 680 a lot and if I got an i3 I should've just gotten a gtx 570 or something considering the bottleneck. Anyway I can pick up a i5 2500 easily for $100 leaving me with $100 ($66 usd) to find a lga 1155 mobo, ram and a harddrive so I wanted to know what motherboards to look out for and if there are any sites people recommend that I should check out because the mobo takes up 80% of that budget leaving me only $20 for ram and a harddrive. Also I am just making a gaming PC with a budget of $500 so I don't need an SSD as I want to store large games on it as the 680 is a great gpu and can run all the latest games really well. Since I got this gpu and psu off a friend as he was upgrading to 970's in sli which a 550w can't run obviously and taking into consideration that the 680 would cost $250 used and a decent 550w psu used about $50 I would have $200 left which is the highest I can go being a student I can borrow $10 off my friend or something if I need to but $200 is my budget.

After you get i5-2400/2500, get these for under $66 USD as you said and upgrade as you go:
