I have connected up a couple of older USB 2 devices and found that they don't work in the USB 3.0 ports on my P9X79 Deluxe motherboard. I always assumed that USB 3.0 was fully backwards compatible. Does anyone know a fix as I am running out of usable ports.

Make sure none of the pins on the USB 3.0 header are bent... I did this with mine and had the same problem. If I remember correctly it is the two pins on the left side.

But most likely it is what makkem said check drivers.

Edit: Is it the front panel ports, rear ports, or both that arent working?

it works for USB3 devices so the ports are active. Driver wise it is a Windows 10 install (from scratch) and detected everything, with USB 3 devices working. I did a bit of troubleshooting though as they were using the standard M$ ones from id last year. I have since installed the ASmedia USB v 1.16.29.1 from 12/10/2015 which updated the devices (USB ports name changed) in device manager but still no USB 2
