Because it physically wont fit, though I guess you could just smash it down and fire her up and see what happens. Seriously, it's just like cutting the PCB on your PCIe based GPU to fit into an AGP or PCI slot. :)

Other than the number of socket contacts being different the LGA1150 CPU's VRM circuit is on the CPU die whereas the LGA1155 CPU's VRM circuit is on the motherboard (i.e. the way the CPU receives its power is different and incompatible).
