I built my computer several years ago, motherboard is an M2N-SLI Deluxe
It has been very reliable up until yesterday, when i start it up i get

USB device over current detected,

pulled all usb devices out, still get same message, checked all pins to see if any shorting and they are all ok, anyway it decided to start after several attempts, and i did what i wanted to do and shut the machine down.

Tonight i try to start it and i get the same message, then after several attempts it goes to the windows 7 logo, stays there for about 15 seconds then shuts down, i also get the option to go to startup repair, that just freezez the computer

Does anyone know what it could be, i am suspecting motherboard, but with everything water cooled a rebuild will be a nightmare as the board is no longer available

M2N SLI Deluxe
AMD 6400 X2 CPU Water Cooled
2 x Gforce 9800 Graphic Cards Water Cooled
8gb Crucial Memory Water Cooled
Chipset Also Watercooled
3 x 2TB Hard Drives
Windows 7 Ultimate

CPU, Both Graphioc Cards

Generally , this means one of your USB port have is experiencing a short circuit due to some anomaly in connection. Most it is due to the front USB ports of the case. Could you detach the front usb or any header based USB connections and check if the problem persists. If so, check the USB jumpers and set them to a workable config by disabling them using caps.

I have disabled all the usb setting in the bios, as I say this is a jumper less board, so no pins to jump

I have ordered a new m/ board now, boots to windows screen sometimes so not thinking CPU, will update when board in

Hi Graham ,

Sorry for the late reply.

Is everything fine with your new mobo? Unfortunately, there are no other ways to disable the USB and you can consider flashing the old mobo BIOS (flashing BIOS) to seek a solution. Chances are low but since it is not shorting, it can be a corrupt BIOS issue.
