will the amd fx-8320 fx-series 8 core black edition work/compatible with the msi 970?

I am a total newb at building pc's. Lately i have been self educating myself with this website and various of others. On the specs list of the msi 970, processors supported are phenom II and the Athlon II. I was under the impression that any am3+ amd processor (such as the amd fx-8320) would be compatible. Please help before i start the process of buying these products. Thanks in advance.

If not shown in the compatible list - I wouldn't count on it, we have seen instances of some mobos of a given chipset supporting a particular CPU where others don't - in part depends obn the mobo manufacturer and if they want to put people working on the BIOS - can also depend on if their power deliver system can handle the given CPU (i.e. the power phases) many times on lower end mobos it's just not worth it

Supposedly it requires some BIOS update to make it compatible with the FX chips. Although considering how old is the AM3+ socket already, i would recommend using the 990~990fx chipset.
