pc makes a clicking sound when shutdown and after shutdown restarts.when pc is powering on,like usual the gigabyte gtx 970 fans will spinn fast and after some seconds again a clicking noise and fans stop to spin fast.I thing that the gpu making the sound but im not sure.the most annoying is the restart,i dont care about the clicking sound because only at startup/shutdown i hear it

on hard drives the heads park when they start/stop when power is off of them. old days in the 80 on old drives you could hear the drives when they park and unpark. as the other poster has said you should nto hear it. see if the drive has the newest firmware. video card all of them have a fan check in there bios. all of them will go 100 percent at boot then slow down. most of the time when they slow down is when windows driver takes over. if you have asus mb see if anti surge is on or off. with it on a lot of times drives and gpu are slow to boot up to keep the mb from having a spike.

Doesn't matter, clicking noises are the sign of a immanent hardware failure a lot of the time as long as the drive is not taking any errors software will have no idea that anything is wrong. Since it only does this on boot up and shut down it likely has some life left in it but if you start hearing clicking during normal operation thats a bad sign. Try your test again in a month or if the clicking gets worse and I bet it will start taking errors. In the mean time I would reccomend you you backup any important data on the drive.

Put your ear right next to the hard drive when it makes the sound if you want to verify its the hard drive. I cant think of anything else that would make a mechanical clicking noise, the only moving parts in your case are the hard drive and fans, if it was a fan bearing you would likely hear it all the time and I doubt you would describe a bad bearing as a clicking noise.
