folder won't open or let me edit, windows has confused the old name of the folder with an extension it doesn't understand

Okay, so this is very simple as a problem, but I have no idea how to solve it. There is a folder in my secondary hard drive called "0.*". I am not sure how this folder came to be named 0.* because ".*" is an "illegal" extension, as far as Windows is concerned, but it is named this, and thus Windows will not open or edit this folder. It's not read-only, it simply is too confusing for Windows to handle... It just so happens that this folder is VERY important, and I must get it to open. How?
 
Solution
Make a Linux Live boot disk (Knopix is good for this), boot off that disk, rename the folder that way. It should work unless there is some file corruption going on.
